NYC has always been a beacon for LGBTQ+ communities, with welcoming (and history-making) bars leading the way and club nights and roving parties bringing the fun. NYC’s optimal gay bars are scattered throughout the city, primarily concentrated in the West Village. The top lesbian bars in NYC are, in fact, the only lesbian bars in NYC, as there are unfortunately not many remaining that identify as such. The few that are still standing are open to all LGBTQ+, but still maintain their roots as welcoming places for (and owned by) lesbians.

Istanbul, the cultural capital of Europe, is a city brimming with history, architecture, and a growing LGBTQ+ scene. As a bridge between Europe and Asia, Istanbul has been influenced by both continents, resulting in a diverse and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. The city's gay districts, Taksim and Beyoglu, are residence to numerous gay bars, clubs, and venues that cater to LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
A Welcoming and Lively Nightlife
When the clock strikes midnight, Istanbul's same-sex attracted nightlife comes alive. While some clubs and bars start filling up around am, others open their doors earlier. Saturdays are the busiest nights, followed closely by Fridays. Unique events and occasions can also attract crowds on other days of the week, although Mondays manage to be quieter as locals recover from a long Sunday night.

This 3 part series transports us to Houston, Phoenix, and New York to spotlight the human stories behind the few remaining Lesbian Bars in the country.
