A few weeks ago, a few friends and me spent a week on the Greek island of Mykonos, a small island lying around miles east of Athens in the Aegean Sea. On the one hand, the minute Cycladic island is prejudiced as a island for the gay community, on the other hand it is said to be really expensive and a place for people to show off their wealth. The island
As already statet in the introduction, Mykonos is a rather small island with a size of around 85 square cilometres and not even 12, people living there. Most of those live in Mykonos Town (or Chora), the main village located in the west of the island. Most of the famous sights and most interesting places to go out are located there as well, so this city will receive a lot of the attention of this send. For example the "Kato Milli", the famous windmills that make up for the landmark of the island, are there as well.

Mykonos has elongated enjoyed its worldwide reputation as a gay vacation hotspot. Much more so than other places I’ve written about, such as Sitges or Gran Canaria – probably only rivaling Amsterdam in terms of reputation. But similar to Amsterdam, that reputation seems to be at least partially fading. That doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t endorse visiting Mykonos, especially if one of your prime motivations is to acquire your rocks off. Much to the contrary, Mykonos is a great destination for gay couples and singles who want to hold a bit of naughty fun.
