James Marsden's Cyclops Deserved a Better X-Men Ending
Is there a main cast member of the X-Men franchise more underutilized than James Marsden's Cyclops? Seriously, the iconic leader of Marvel Comics' most notable mutant team of superheroes is often overshadowed by the hulking presence of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and after movies like Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine, it's not hard to look why. But Scott Summers deserved better, and while the X-Men prequels tried to thrust a juvenile Cyclops (played by Tye Sheridan) front and center, James Marsden's version of the character has been all-but-forgotten. Despite the Marvel Cinematic Universe bringing support so many old characters for their Multiverse Saga, Marsden's Cyclops is one that always seems to slip through the cracks, including in his have franchise.
The X-Men Movies Never Treated Cyclops Right
The sad truth is that the X-Men movies never quite knew what to do with Cyclops. Because of his crucial nature to the X-Men story, you have to include the character. Most consider Cyclops (especially at the time)

Scott Summers was the first of two sons born to (Major) Christopher Summers, a test pilot for the U.S. Breeze Force, and his wife Katherine. Christopher was flying his family home from vacation when their plane was attacked by a spacecraft from the interstellar Shi'ar Empire. To save their lives, Katherine pushed Scott and his brother Alex out of the plane with the only obtainable parachute. Scott suffered a head injury upon landing, thus forever preventing him from controlling his mutant power by himself.
With their parents presumed dead, the authorities separated the two boys. Alex was adopted, but Scott remained comatose in a hospital for a year. On recovering, he was placed in an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska that was secretly regulated by his future enemy

However, Cyclops quickly shuts him up by taking him down with the help of Juggernaut, reminding fans that Scott Summers’ powers aren’t what generate him the X-Men’s finest leader, but his dominant tactical skills are.
Here, Cyclops illuminate why he is the definitive X-Men head, while this moment also subtly shows how Cyclops’
