Coming out can mean unlike things to different people. Everything starts with coming out to yourself, and that can take moment and support. We are here to provide you with that support.  For some people, coming out can also include friends and family. But each person gets to craft those choices in their own time. 

While we never tell someone whether they should come out, we are here with you to think about those big decisions and to provide the care and safe space you deserve.

    Coming Out

    Many people utilize the term &#;coming out&#; to mention to the process of telling someone else how they identify in terms of their intimate orientation, sexual orientation, or gender culture. Coming out is a lifelong process that has both intrapersonal and interpersonal components, although most people have an initial phase where they are first coming out to themselves.

    The intrapersonal component involves:

    • recognizing a dissonance between one&#;s internal experiences, desires, or feelings as compared to societal norms
    • making meaning of this dissonance through exploration and information gathering
    • formulating a way of describing or sympathetic one&#;s experiences, desires, or feelings
    • making choices about affirming, embracing, denying, repressing one&#;s experiences, desires, or feelings

    The interpersonal component involves:

    • discussing one&#;s experiences, desires, or feelings with others as part of the exploration or facts gathering
    • seeking out a community of people with similar experiences, desires, or feelings
