Magic Johnson changed how we thought, and now hes trying to do it again.
Sports transcends society, and few sports personas altered societys perception more than when the Lakers luminary announced he had HIV back in A virus once previously deemed as gay had infected a sports star. And while it used to be that people would tell, Well, no one in my life has that, when Magic got it, almost everyone could utter that someone in their life had it, so to speak.
Now, Johnson is conquering a new stigma — raising a homosexual child. Yep, Magics son is gay. Ervin Johnson III, a year-old college kid who goes by E.J., was recently outed by TMZ cameras, which spotted E.J. holding hands with another man.
What happened next was pretty stylish. The Hall of Famer and part owner of the Dodgers sat down with TMZ. Johnson could have just sent out a news release saying he respects his sons decision. Or, he could have said nothing, since its his personal family business.

In a new interview with Variety ahead of the April 22 release of “They Call Me Magic,” an Apple TV Plus docuseries that covers his life and career, Johnson revealed that he initially struggled to come to terms with his sons sexual orientation.

Days after Magic Johnson publicly announced his support for his openly gay son, the basketball legend is opening up about when he learned his son was gay, the backlash since the news broke and what he thinks about athletes coming out.
"We've known for a prolonged, long time," Johnson told TMZ in a videotaped interview posted on the site today.
Johnson said when Earvin Johnson III, or let me know, are you or aren't you?"
"Finally he said, 'Yes I am,'" Johnson told TMZ in the interview.
"It's a hard conversation to have only because he was so young, and what do you tell him at that age and what perform you say to him but other than that … we are here to support you."

The year-old son of L.A. Lakers great Magic Johnson is surprised by the public interest in his being gay, something that he revealed to his supportive family several years ago.
Earvin Johnson III, known as E.J., says he feels like he's coming out of the closet a second time and that he's "reveling" in the experience – even though news of his sexual orientation broke publicly sooner than he had planned.
